Hi, I thought this might be a good place to post this as I know a few of you on here have small pet channels as well as watch such channels as Erins Animals and Victoria Raechel.
Did you know that from Jan YouTube will be making content creators mark videos as 'made for kids' or 'not made for kids' due to COPPA (The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 199
It looks like Pet/animal videos are classed as made for kids and Erins Animals Channel has already been hit by this.
It will mean that if your channel or videos are marked as made for kids (YouTube will also have algorithms for this) that people will no longer be able to comment on your videos, search for them or be recommended them, which in turn will affect revenue for those with big enough channels. So this not only affects the creators, it affects the viewers too. Viewers won't be able to find what they are looking for and quite frankly if there is no longer any viewers or revenue being made why are channels going to continue to create.
If you use YouTube for other interests, it is going to hit any 'family content' such as music, crafts/Art, games, books, toys etc.
Please consider signing this petition. Without Pet/animal channels it will make it harder to educate people on proper animal care.
