So excited...
You would not believe the amount of preparation that has gone on since last Thursday. Actually, maybe you would believe it - I bet most people here have done it some time or another. Pretty much all our hamster equipment needed to be overhauled (wheels too small, cages too small with not enough toys or outlets for natural behaviour). Altogether I have spent over £100 (although I've had help for some of that, and some was from before Thursday). I'm still reeling.
Yesterday I went online and ordered a flying saucer and silent spinner - flying saucer because I don't think the silent spinner can fit onto the duna multy, and I don't have a big enough wheel for the Inverness cage. Also a chinchilla sand bath as well.
Due to flitting between Inverness and Glasgow we have to have two decent sized cages. Today a friend dropped off a cage for Willow. And a gorgeous cage too. About 70cm by about 60, and about 45 high, at a guess. So that will be her cage for up in Inverness. The friend also dropped off lots of wooden tunnels, toys, pet disinfectant, water bottles, an exercise ball and a couple of wheels. Bowled over by her kindness and thoughtfulness!
Also today I also went to pets at home with Grandma, and bought a hamster potty and litter, as well as Pro-C and some bonio puppy biscuits as chews. I also got the duna multy out of the garage where it has been resting since Oakie died. I'd already deep cleaned it so it was just a case of getting it (and a temporary wheel until the flying saucer and silent spinner arrive), out, along with the flat pack hamster tunnel kit. These are all packed and ready to take down to Glasgow.
We are doing her vet fund by each putting £10 a month into a kitty for her.
Tomorrow is the big day. I go down on the early bus to arrive for midday. My partner picks up flaxseed, hemp seed, dried mixed fruit and agave nectar (for disguising medicine if need be) from Holland and Barrett nearby. I set up the cage. Then we both go and collect Willow and bring her home.
