One of my hamsters wa from pamurred pets and lived to 2 and half possibly older due to not knowing how old he was when we got him , I find that generally he was good though the one near me up to a few months ago was using metal wire wheels which is a bit concerning but it was nothing an email to the head office didn't fix

I HATE both these chains (in fact pretty much all pet stores), but PamPurred Pets especially.
I've only been to PamPurred Pets once, but it was awful. Some of the pets (especially the rabbits) looked in quite ill health, showing bald patches etc. Very unhappy to see that. They also had signs saying 'we cannot guarantee the sex of your pet'.

Pets At Home seems OKAY in animal housing, but honestly after reading about hybrids and where they get their pets from (mass factory style breeders, surprise surprise, like all pet stores) and all the homeless hams out there I would never ever buy any live animal from any pet store.

what? that's ridiculous! you shouldn't be selling live animals if you can't even sex them properly. I mean I know P@H aren't the most reliable but at least they think they know what they're doing - sounds like PamPurred Pets is admitting they know nothing about the animals at all!

We just got Kiba from Pets at Home, we had no luck whatever with breeders. So we are hoping the best and will do whatever we can to help him live as long as possible

Typical though we get an email from a breeder today..but I wouldn't trade Kiba for the world. We might only of had him a few days, but every pet deserves a chance no matter where you get it from. Even if it only lives a shorter life than normal, at least you can say you gave it a good life! =)

If given the chance at the start, I would have went with a breeder cause we wanted the best, but you never know..I don't regret it =)

i've never been to pampered pets, i'm not sure if there is one near me in stoke-on-Trent?

my experience with hams from pets at home as put me off for life i've had 3 syrians from there and the longest they lived was 6 months which was really upsetting, the 2 gerbils i had lived 3 months!

the last ham my sister had from there was so aggressive it was unreal, i remember at the time when the guy opened the cage all of the hams with hissing like crazy, ( i did try and talk her out of getting him)

i even had her hamster for a while to try and tame him, without fail for weeks he drew blood,he lived for about 2 years and has been the only hamster that ive known to be untamed.

my Chinese ham from there lived to be nearly 3 and was lovely!!
