Default 'Of Mice&Men'

Anyone else had to read/watch this at school?
Eurgh i have not enjoyed reading it at all! its so sad
and the scene in the film Where the old dog is shot made me cry

I can understand why there is so much controversy surrounding it..

We had to read this at school! Never got to see the film though because it's not exactly the same as the book and miss didn't want us to end up using stuff from the film for our controlled assessments -.-

The book is far better than the film, I think George needed Lenny more than he thought. He was always saying how much of a burden he was but when Lenny would say he would leave George always made excuses for him to stay.. Like who would look after the rabbits..A tearjerker of a book

I read the book in my own time and had to re-read it for GCSE a few years later. I LOVE it Its a beautifully artistic tragedy with wonderful descriptive text, the fact that there were small moments of comedy hidden away in it was very nice too, made it feel more naturalistic then this was countered by the constant use of animal imagery used mostly to describe Lennie
I will say I loved the most reccent film although its a shame they couldnt find a way to interperet the giant bunny scene into it :/
Also love it for the title, "The Best Laid Plans Of Mice and Men" is a beautiful poem and the conection between the story and the old poem is very clear so it was a well thought out title.

We had to read it and watch the film too. The only problem with the film was that something about the scene where Lenny gets shot struck most of my class as hilarious and the teacher wasn't impressed.
(In our defence there was a scene in Macbeth where we really irritated a different teacher by finding something hilarious when it wasn't meant to be, so they knew what we were like before they showed us the film of Mice and Men).

I can't remember it too well anymore though, do remember finding Lenny and the puppy sad, but it was over six years ago (I sat the GCSE early so got it done a year sooner than most) and I can't remember books well for that long lol

i had to watch the film and none of out class took it seriously so i just didn't bother watching half of it because there were only 4 girls in my class and we were all trying to watch it and make notes but all the guys were just making loads of jokes about it =/ . the teacher was not impressed, she got the head of english to come and sit with us and watch it :L ( the head of english was so strict if she heard one person say something she went mad at all of us and kept us in all break)
