Which branch in London are you talking about? I am near the Hendon one and they seem to be pretty good in there! I have a bigger issue with the small local independent branches which couldn't care less about the animals they sell, although as I said above I still point out the obvious every time I see something wrong in any petshop I go to

I always say things "under my breath" about how the food is too sugary, the cages are tiny etc; usually when the staff and customers are walking past, although i have to admit, most of the customers in my local P@Hs seem to know there stuff when it comes to their pets! It seems to be my local pet shops (not P@Hs) that the customers are pulled into buying tiny cages etc
If something was very wrong, like an animal didn;t have water left; i'd say something to the staff im sure

I usually pretend to be talking to my Mum or sister, but the staff is in hearing range They look pretty surprised when I always pick the more expensive toys (That are better quality) For example when I bought Arrow's 20 cm bogie wheel, the lady was stunned that I went for the wooden wheel instead of the Nobby wheel (which are rubbish) xD

Well we'll just all have to become P@H managers won't we

I'm too polite to confront usually and I know sometimes its not that the staff don't care its just they don't realise. Fortunately I don't usually have any problems with local pet shops.

Beckton in East London. There's another nearer to me in Essex but I really don't like that one so I go there instead. XD

never been to that one. I've been to west drayton (I think) and that one was nice, also.

Just past my local pet shop again - went in and had to leave straight away. very cute hammies - BUT there was 10 in one tiny tank!! syrians!!! well, they couldn't have been all one sex and all siblings! I had a big argument with them about this on few occasions and today I just didn't have the strength! They mistreat their animals so badly, and after speaking to my vet she said that loads of people complain about them. Is there anything we can do about this? is there anywhere we can file a complaint in? I really wish they listen to people and treat their stock nicely

Hm weird, I've been to the West Drayton one as well when I lived up there. XD I don't think there's much we can do. I think, and don't hold me to this, that what they're doing isn't illegal it's just immoral but you can look it up and check for yourself if you want.

katarina, your local council authority are responsible for allowing the shop a licence, so if you have concerns, I would phone their department and tell them what you are unhappy about. They should send someone round un-announced to check your issues and if they find that the animals are overcrowded or the conditions are not up to standard, they can withdraw their licence to sell animals. The RSPCA also deal with concerns over what the public see, so if things are really bad, I would also contact them aswell.

I know I'm late on this forum but oh well. The staff at my local PetCo are pretty well trained.
A few years back I thought it would be a good idea to buy a second dwarf hamster to put together with my Nancy, and 2 workers talked me out of and told me what could happen if I did. but I guess that's just my store haha.
