RIP my sweet Calyanwë
My sweet boy Cal very unexpectedly went to the rainbow bridge this morning, he was only 17 months & I never imagined he would be gone so soon.
Yesterday evening he was up & about foraging as usual no sign of anything wrong at all, this morning I did all the hams water as usual then a little later when I was going to see if he needed any more food I saw he was in his food bowl so left it a few minutes before going back & he was still there, lying across the bowl rather than in it as I had thought. I can only imagine he had come out & was on his way across the cage when something happened, he seems far too young for a stroke or maybe heart attack but I can’t think what else would have happened.
I held him & stoked him for ages but no signs of life, he had gone.
He was never too keen on human interaction but we got as far as him taking a few seeds from may hand, other than that he just did his own thing, loved his food & was always up & about foraging in his cage searching all the places I hid his seeds & whenever I left a favourite treat in his cage, even when he was nowhere to be seen it would be gone in minutes, I did sometimes wonder if he ever slept!
Even though we didn’t interact as much as I would have liked I think he was happy, I loved to watch him & talk to him & will really miss his company.
I’m still in shock at the moment & it’s very hard to believe he has really gone.
I will always remember the day I brought him home, we had been having non stop torrential rain literally for months but the moment we got home the sun came out & it was glorious for a few hours then there was the most beautiful rainbow as the rain began again, hence his name which (roughly) translates as golden sky bridge, well you’ve gone to that bridge now my sweet boy, say hello to all the hamily for me & send me a sign you’re safe.
Rest in peace my sweet boy, forage to your hearts delight at the bridge where the treats will be endless

Oh cypher, i am so so sorry to hear this.
What a shock it must have been for you and it will take a while to come to terms with Cal's untimely departure.
It's not much of a consolation to say that he must have gone quickly while doing his favourite thing of eating but at least he didn't go on his journey to the rainbow bridge with empty pouches.
Play well at the bridge Calyanwë.

Re: RIP my sweet Calyanwë
I am so very sorry cypher, what a shock to you to find little Cal gone so young.
He was a self contained little character from what you say about him, but did his own thing in his own way.
Find the others from your hamily, Calyanwe and have fun with them all across the bridge. Send a rainbow back home, when you have settled there.

Re: RIP my sweet Calyanwë
Thank you for your kind words everyone, it always helps.
I’m still finding it hard to believe he’s gone, right about now he’d usually be up staring into his empty veg bowl from the previous day waiting for more, the little thingss....
I’ve made up a nice wooden box for him now, lots of tissue, his favourite chew tick, some pumpkin seeds, flowers & a needle felted heart & ordered a memorial for him.
It is a comfort to know it was so quick & he didn’t suffer, I usually leave him something nice when I do his water & I like to think he was just one his way to see what was on offer when the end came without him knowing or feeling a thing.
