Default Goodnight Molly

Goodnight Molly.
Molly was my 8 month old syrian who passed in august. I just didn't have the heart to come out about but I heard this forum is full of supportive people.
Have fun at rainbow bridge, Molly.

I am so sorry to hear of Molly's passing.
It is always very hard when our furry friends leave us especially when they're still young.
Sometimes we'll never know the reasons and have to cherish the happy memories they leave behind.

I am so sorry about Molly and it is so much harder when they are young. I am glad you found us. It must have been very hard. I found it very hard to get over our first Syrian dying and it went on for some time. Little things can help. It helps when you have had a bit of a memorial to say goodbye or done something in their honour. It can help once the cage has been cleaned out and items put away out of sight. There are also places that can help with grief - the Blue Cross have an online email surface and that can really help.

It can also help when you get another hamster. It won’t replace your loved little friend. But hamsters all have different personalities. Getting a hamster that is a different sex, colour or species also helps prevent painful reminders.

I am sorry to hear about Molly. It is always so hard when our hams leave us as they are such a big part of our lives. It will take time but bit by bit it will get better. When you are ready, a new ham does help ease the loss and will bring happiness. Play well at the bridge molly x

Yes, it gets better bit by bit. As Molly was my first hammy, she could've gotten better care than she had, bit I was a beginner in hamster owning, so she could've gotten better size cage, at the beginning her cage was horrible and over the months I got her a bigger cage. She also didnt have any bedding so she could burrow. She had one or two chews and the wheel she had was small. Her diet also wasnt the best. I got my second hammy in october, for my birthday. In making her a bin cage right now and will show you the results as soon as its finished!

Looking forward to seeing the bin cage. We all make mistakes at the start but as long as they are loved they put up with our mistakes. It is nice to see them happier though when they get a nice cage

I'm so sorry for your loss. Hamsters are such big personalities and they leave a giant hole in our lives when they pass on.

I think that most first time hamster owners make inadvertent mistakes in how they look after their hamsters, not intentionally but simply because they don't have that much knowledge or experience yet. I was one of those owners. The main thing is that you kept learning about what is good for your hammy and that you kept trying to make changes that improved her life.

Best of luck with your new little friend!

I hope you will introduce us to your new hammy. If you look under Forum - Hamster Species - Syrian. You can start a thread so we can follow your bee hamster’s exploits (assuming it is a Syrian - there is a separate section for other species).

Yes, it is a syrian. Definetly will be posting about her. I'll also make sure to post the bin cage!
