Dear Butternut, words will never express how much we love you, or how much you mean to us, or how happy you made us every single second of every day since you came into our lives. Just knowing that we could spend time with you every day gave us something special to look forward to. Everything from your smile to your running to your nibbling made us so happy and we know it always will. You were a true star on and off the screen – a real “ham” for the camera. You will always be the most handsome, beautiful hamster, both inside and out. We will always remember the way you would tilt your head so you wouldn’t bite our fingers when giving you a treat. And, the way you would smile and wake-up for a run or just want to sit by us as soon as you saw us. We will always remember the way you would grip your water bottle to get more water and the sound your tongue would make while you drank. The adorable way you posed in your sleep is something we could stare at for hours, and we did. It doesn’t feel real that you’re not here, physically, anymore. You were so good with everything from everyday errands to big adventures. You knew when to sleep and when to run. It comforts us to know that since you passed away unexpectedly, at the old age of 28+ months. You were never sick and never suffered. We will never forget our time together and how you truly made us a family. Nothing will ever be the same – we were so blessed to have you. It hurts so much to not be able to snuggle with you, or feel your hands and feet walk on us, or feel your soft, warm fur, or give you a kiss. Even though it hurts so much right now, we would do it all over again, in a heartbeat. We know you will always be with us in spirit and we wouldn’t trade anything for our time together. You have truly impacted our entire lives in the best way. Thank you for allowing us to be your parents. You are the best, ever! We love you so much and we always will. Run free with family and friends on the other side of the rainbow bridge and enjoy all the cheese puffs you want! Until we meet again…
