Its taken a while to write this - I wanted to wait until she had come home for the final time
"Lilbear"
Lilbear was a wee dot when she came to live with us at about 7 weeks old. She was a jumping hamster to begin with. The first time she came out of her cage she lept out of the basket and scurried on the floor. A plastic tub was quickly put on top of her to stop her in her tracks and slide some cardboard underneath her to scoop her up like a spider in a glass
. I was scared of her and spent weeks picking her up with gloves on but she was gentle and laughed at my daftness.
She was a chatty little thing she said she didn't like her wheel as it made her dizzy, that she wanted more greens and that she liked to slide. She loved to climb up the bars and slide down the ramp
. She was cheeky and loved her porridge and a more than occasional treat.
She was much loved and a pleasure to share our home with. She kept the best of health and gave us so much. Her last days with us were difficult and we told her it was okay to go and that we were ready if she was ready to take her final journey. She needed a little help in the end but she was a fighter to the end. She wanted to live and loved life and her last breath took a while to be taken. She gave me a wink before she left and was beautiful right to the end.
She has come home to be with us and will continue to be in our hearts.
Lilbear we love you, we loved you the minute we saw you and we feel honoured to have had you in our lives. Enjoy the slides at Rainbow Bridge and give Conker a snuggle from me. Don't let Fuzzee Fi lead you astray - she will know where all the secret areas are - no doubt she located them the minute she arrived.
All our love baby hammy
