In Memory Of Panda
Our Syrian hamster, Panda, passed away on 10th Feb 2016 at around 4 months old. We had her for 2 months, and after the first month she showed a swollen abdomen and increased fatigue.
After seeing two vets with unsuccessful results she began to lose a lot of weight and we grew increasingly concerned for her. We visited a third vet for an urgent appointment (for which one of us forwent a day of university) in the hope of something, anything. This vet was very good to us, and gave Panda an ultrasound scan revealing a severely enlarged liver, causing her bloat. She was given a steroid injection and prescribed daily antibiotics.
After two days we found Panda very still and unresponsive, and she passed on in her nest moments later. We notified the vet who was very understanding and comforting and we know she did the best she could.
We buried Panda in her nest under a tree in the garden. We will frame a photo of her and plant some flowers over her grave.
We are happy she is no longer suffering, but miss her dearly. Lots of love, little bear!

Re: In Memory Of Panda
RIP Panda. She was so young. I remember when you introduced her on here.
Glad she passed at home and that you were able to give her decent veterinary care.
Her grave sounds lovely. Bless her.

Re: In Memory Of Panda
Thank you for your lovely messages. I found this lovely fundraising page in aid of Wood Green, an animals charity. For a £2 donation they will light a candle in memory of a pet. Worth a look https://www.justgiving.com/Light-For-Love
