So sad and sorry and please forgive me for not noting this thread yesterday.
A very special fur ball she was indeed and though a sad memorial for many I found it and amazing story of just how much a Hamster can love their human too. Zephyr chose YOU to be there with her near the end of her life she went out of her way to be with YOU.

Though you gave her the right to leave you she again chose to stay as long as you let her, choosing to have the pain, and weakness inside her go on longer then you had wanted her to go. Your love for her was shown when YOU chose to help her place that tiny and oh so weak paw of life into a place where that pain and weakness could not follow.

Your last act of Love was very hard on you, but also was very peaceful for her.
I can't stop thinking of her up there at Rainbow Bridge running about being greeted by Teek, Ziggy as she passed from this life of test trials and pain and suffering, into a world of wonder and peace and no evil at all to attack her.

I never got to know Zephyr well but through this memorial and your love seen so well in your typing through the many tears I had this poem come to my heart for you to enjoy with first more tears but then as time passes through love and laughter.

Zephyr

Zephyr, Zephyr shining bright,
I look and see you peering out.
I come and get you out each night,
and laugh with joy at your joyful flights.

Never did you want to leave,
On my hand you did always Clive.
I know how you did love me so,
and often I wondered why at the end you would not go.

You were my very special fur friend,
I knew in my heart this was to be the end.
I said good bye as they took you in back,
The tears flowed down with not one lack.

I know it was the best for you,
My final love is what I do.
Run free my friend all bright and now new,
I know one day I will see you again too.

Listen can you hear her running round,
on that perfect wheel and that peaceful sound?
If she could tell you I do know,
You would hear her squeak that the pain did go.

Oh Momma dear please do not cry,
Look up at night and see that star in the sky.
I'm up here with my friends of old
I am running on my wheel of Gold.

We see you Momma yes we see,
your tears of love flow like a sea.
We so want to come back and help bring peace,
But only our memories can now do these.

We know in time the pain will be less,
And you once again will have good rest.
We Thank-You now best mistress dear,
And one day we will all be here.

I am so incredibly sorry Cypher. Zephyr was a very handsome girl who was so clearly loved by you. She will always be special, even if now it can only be in your memory.

Cypher, your chosen resting place for Zephyr is a touching memorial that you can look at and grieve by. One day you will look at it and smile I am sure, comforted by the memories of your very special girl.
Nancy said so much with understanding of the bond between hamster and owner. I know you will treasure her poem always. If I achieve only half the bond you had with Zeyphr I will still count myself blessed.

Cypher, I am so sorry that Zephyr has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. After a while the memories will be a comfort. I know this little one was so well loved and you will miss her so much. She's going to be missed here on HC. Beautiful little fluff. Play well at the Bridge

I burst into tears again seeing your beautiful memorial to your little lady who brought a lot of joy to everyone who followed her thread.

Thanks for your kind words everyone.
I know it will take time for the grief to begin to ease but she does have a lovely spot there in the garden & it was a real comfort to be able to go there & talk to her yesterday & it does give me a sense that she's at peace there now, surrounded by flowers & wild life, it just feels right.
I'll plant something special there for her soon, it's always comforting when I see my other hams special plants come back to life each spring.
My other two know something is wrong & have been very quiet so I'm trying to get a grip & just be there for them now.
