sadly my darest clover died last satuarday aged 5 years.
she hadnt shown any signs of her age untill the week befor she died. she started to pull out her fur and making her nest from it i put this down to a phantom pregnancy as she had gone through these before and normaly stops after a few days however this time she she carried on until her skin was sore and started to bleed. we took her to the vets who gave us some antibiotics to prevent any infection.the vet also noticed that clover was missing most of her teeth and had a very overgrown back tooth which might have been why she pulled so much of her fur out as a way to compensate for the pain poor thing.
we booked her in for an op to have her tooth removed that thursday. sadly she became worse the day before her op and lost a lot of weight, so we made her comfotable in the kitchen to keep her warm( she normally lives outside) and took her in for her op the next day.the vet felt she was too weak to have the op that day, so fed her up with liquid food that day and night and operated on her tooth the next day (last friday). she went through the op ok but took a long time to come around. she carried on drinking well but wouldnt eat any thing so that night i made her as comfotable as possible and prepared for the worse.
the next morning(last saturday) she was still alive but looked worse so that day i spent most of my time with her keeping her warm and comforting her until she slowly slipped away into an ever lasting sleep.
here are some pictures of clover as i will always remember her.
you will always be in my heart clover, i will love you forever, rest in peace and sweet dreams.

I'm sorry to hear about Clover. When I saw the photos they really reminded me of a dutch rabbit I looked after approx. fifteen years ago, I called Biscuit because of the ginger-brown coat. She also looked very svelte and had beautifully fine features - makes me very nostalgic.
It's good to know that Clover had such a caring owner.
