Default Goodbye Tinkerbell xx

Some of you may remember me posting about a hamster who was an old girl when we got her - about 18 months old. John fell in love with her the moment he saw a picture of her and it just seemed 'right' that she spend her retirement with us. So she came to us and settled in very quickly - her back legs were always a bit wobbly so she had a Zoozone 2 which to start with also had an add-on Ferplast Duna but eventually due to her legs getting worse she just had the Zoozone but she seemed very happy.

Sadly, she died on Saturday evening.

We think she must have had a stroke as she was ill all of a sudden - I won't go into too much detail about how things went but her death was very peaceful. She died snuggled up on my knee having spent two hours or so with me and John taking it in turns holding her and stroking her head telling her how much we loved her. She was very calm all the time we held her on our knee.

She was a gentle, sweet natured girly who never once attempted to bite or nip. She would just snuggle into your hands when you held her and she loved a run around our bed or an occasional run around the pet room. She loved to empty her food dish and stash her food and loved her treats too. We'll really miss her, even though we knew she wasn't young when we got her. She was a wonderful old girl. We renamed her Tinkerbell as we already had a Snowy and it seemed to suit her as she certainly had a cheekiness about her - letting you know when she didn't approve of a certain cage layout etc!

She's been buried in our garden xx

You may remember these pics of her.....

Very recent pics - moving her tissue around the Zoozone!

Goodbye Tinkerbell - we are so pleased we had the time to get to know you xx

I'm so sorry for your loss, sounds like Tinkerbell had the best retirement she could have hoped of. I'm sure she knew how much she was cherished and loved, and passed away in good company.

RIP Tinkerbell.

So sorry to hear of the passing of little Tinkerbell. She was much loved and treasured by you both and I know she was happy and felt this during her happy retirement.
Rest in peace Tinkerbell and play happily at the bridge

Im so sorry to hear of your loss Hanlou, and can truly empathise, having just it appears, having gone through something very similar with my spud.

Tinkerbell was a very special hamster to you and John, I can tell, and she sounds a very dignified lady. I am so glad that in her final hours she was surrounded by the love of her family and passed peacefully.

Sleep well little Tinkerbell, and if you meet another new arrival at the bridge, a handsome mink man called spud, link paws and tread the bridge happily together
