Chocowoko
A hamster passed away today named chocowoko. He was randomly chosed by a six year old girl, he was to be hers but to live with her aunt. The first week was great, he got handled loads. But then they forgot about him.
His water was stale.
His belly rumbled for food for days on end.
His cage stank.
He had a wheel but it was too small and it hurt for him to run on, but he did love to run. He would go as fast as his tiny legs would carry him until his back ached from the wheel. He would chew on his cage to escape, just for one night out running around without the pains.
He got scared when human hands were thrust into his cage to grab hold of him, it hurt and upset him. He would scramble to get free, to run.
He had a 10 pence sized lump in his belly and it hurt to walk. The human hands prodded it, wondering what to do. She won't take him to the vets as her boyfriend needed the money to pay his rent (he had spent all of his own money on, well, lets not say shall we) and he gets upset if she doesn't give him money. Her dad could put a brick on his head. It would be quick and painless. Well, nearly. No, she will leave him in his cage to pass on by himself. Alone.
He lay down on his side as his breath became short. His legs became numb. His body cold. He wished for just one cuddle, one last run. Please, just one more.
He passed away sometime between 5pm yesterday and 9pm today. He can, at last, run around to his hearts content across the bridge.
I'm sorry I couldn't help, choco x x x

Re: Chocowoko
Poor Chocowoko, There are some very cruel people in this world and many loose interest in little animals they buy on a whim. I would use very strong language if it was allowed but i think most forum members will understand the anguish i feel for the little soul. He didn't have a life only an existance. Play well at the bridge little fella, run free. RIP

Re: Chocowoko
poor guy. thousands, maybe millions of hamsters are being kept like this every day. I imagine these are the types of hamsters my Bunsey counsels in the afterlife.

Re: Chocowoko
RIP little guy, you are in a better place now. I'm crying for you as I type as the people who were supposed to love you didn't cry.
Katzilla, show the person who kept him like this this thread and our disgust at them. What goes around comes around and I hope it comes to them. I almost pity anyone who can watch (or not watch but ignore) an animals suffering like they have. I almost pity them that they'll never know the warmth and love animals give us and we give them in return - but I don't pity them enough not enough to not wish the same suffering on them. I hope it comes to them in heaps and it will.

I've tried to explain it to her, I've been pretty harsh but she just thinks she did everything she could for him. She seemed a bit taken back last time me and her went out together and I went round with a little timer making sure all my hamsters (and the ones that weren't mine) 10 minutes each of a play and the rabbits 20mins (they get upset otherwise) before we went out. I didn't know what time or if I would be home that's why I did it then. It took a good hour! But she looked shocked and asked if I did that every week!! I said no, every night. I would like to use stronger language to describe her right now but I'm sure you are thinking the same

Re: Chocowoko
Not only did she neglect poor little Choco but she doesn't understand that she has done wrong either. Stupidity is no excuse for letting the little fella suffer. I would like to starve her and shut her in a tight space for several days and see how she likes it. As Holly said "What goes around, comes around" She has very bad Karma and she will get back what she gives
