Poor little chap, I'm still thinking about him. I wish one of us could have taken him.
I've coonvinced my friend not to buy another hamster and to wait until I've bred mine. Might take a looooong time as they are all in same sex pairs and I have no intention of breeding. I've also had a gentle yet firm word with her about what taking care of hamsters is all about. I basicaly told her not to get another hammy.

Poor little guy, I got really upset reading that. Sadly, this is a sad life that has been given to lots of hamsters by children.
Advice to parents: If your child wants a pet, be AWARE that your child may lose interest and therefore it is YOUR responsibilty to make ure that animal is looked after, either by yourself or by another family.

I hope she does have to walk down the opath, and gets attacked.
PLay free Choco, now you can run without the pains xx

it absolutely stuns me the volume of parents there are out there who seem shocked that their kid has lost interest in the hamster! and these are just the ones who advertise their hams for sale! There's a lot of stupid people really. Everyone knows that kids beg for stuff and then get bored 5 mins later. Ever head of a 5-minute wonder? My mum said that for pretty much everything i asked for; "you're not having that, it's a 5-minute wonder"

I don't think you can generalise that all children are like that. Many, many hamsters spend wonderful lives with there young owners where they are loved and cared for and enjoy life to the full with individual attention. More adults mistreat animals than children I have found.

true, i had hams when i was 7-10 and i was mad for them! i made my own hamster magazine and made my psychiatrist draw pics of them with me and stick them on her wall

but a lot of kids do get bored with things very quickly on the other hand. especially when you get him home and you can't touch him for 2 weeks and then when (s)he never gets up til after your bed time
