Citrus Warrior
At the beginning of April in 2012 i went to pets at home to buy a hamster, i ended up with Maple May, but.. a little mink called Citrus in the adoption centre caught my attention. I went home.. but i couldn't get this 'fat unwanted' mink out of my mind... so naturally, the next day i returned to the shop and adopted you, Citrus. From the very start you were as tame as anything, never bitten me once in your whole life. You weren't bothered by me in the slightest, the gentlest little soul.. just wanted to be out. I was heartbroken when i had to give you to my sister for a few days whilst i treated Maple's wet tail, couldn't have you getting sick too. When i got you back, it was the best reunion. Me and my two girls, healthy <3 The first picture i got of my perfect little girl
I remember shortly after i got you, you escaped your ball and went wild in my flat. You'd gotten behind the wall somehow, i could hear you scratching, i frantically tore my kitchen apart.. you came tottering out covered in white stuff.. it was like you had become a white hammy . i caught you at it again.. escaping, but i managed to catch you on your adventures!
We were the best of friends, you absolutely loved my dressing gown. You'd sit quite happily in my sleeve. In fact, just 2 days before you left me, when i was quite upset you just ran in and out my dressing gown, looking after me.. cheering me up
Doing assignments was fun with you by my side.. this one being a hamster behaviour one, perfect example there Cit! How could assignments ever be boring with a beautiful hammy there by your side?
You got pyometra shortly after your first birthday. I was so scared of losing you. It was time to be a warrior, and warrior you were. You didn't seem like you knew you were ill... i think if you could have spoke you would have said 'illness... what illness?!' The day of your operation i spent the entire day crying.. i had convinced myself i would lose you.. but no, you sailed through and when you came home you were as hyper as anything, it's as if you didn't know you'd just had major surgery. In your hospital cage you lapped up the baby foods. I was the proudest of mummies.. that's my girl! Don't give up without a fight!
And then... the worst thing. Heart failure was upon us, i'd just lost Warrior Maple to it.. i was absolutely devastated. But, you were not phased. At the start you struggled and i had to take you on trips to spend the day in the oxygen tank. You were the best little patient, you loved taking your medicine, it had to be adminstered twice every day.
You remained lively, asides from 1 down day where i had to get you through.. you perked up and carried on.. the same old glint in your stunning little eyes
Sunday night i had you out, you were doing your old dressing gown antics and sitting in your favorite place on me.. then running loon on my bed. You were a normal hamster.. anyone who would have seen you would have thought nothing was wrong.
Monday morning i went to give you your meds, but you were curled up in your nest and soundly sleeping, forever. So very peacefully. It looked as if your heart had just stopped beating in your sleep.
You always know this time is coming, but nothing.. absolutely nothing prepares you for when the time actually comes. Thankyou baby girl for fighting so hard, you were such an inspiration never letting anything get you down. Thankyou for being my best friend, my little warrior. Your job is done down here. Go find Maple May up there, my two original warriors together. No words can describe how much i love you, how much i desperately want you back. You were perfect in every single way. No words do you justice.
Nothing can ever tear us apart, not death... cause not a day will pass where i don't find the place where you are in my heart <333
There's a memorial video made for her by request from my friend

Re: Citrus Warrior
Thankyou everyone for your kind words *hugs* <3 She was so precious to me, struggling to deal with losing her... i miss her too much. I buried her right next to Maple, my two original warriors together once again. Not enough words can portray the bond we had

Re: Citrus Warrior
I so sorry that Citrus has left you. That was a lovely memorial and I love the video, with her not being quite sure where to go once she had the dog biscuit in her mouth. Your memorial really shows how much you loved her and how special she was to you. She was beautiful. *Hugs*
