RIP Lola
I had my two winter whites for 5 days before Lola passed away. I didn't even get a chance to introduce her RIP Lola. I'm sorry.
Poppy and Lola were sisters that were 12-15 weeks old when I got them from the shop where I work they sqaubbled a little bit at first in a new cage but it never got serious and they cuddled up together. When I got home from work last night i picked up the food bowl in the cage to feed them and noticed something on the floor of the cage, it was my sweet little Lola, dead Poppy had killed her. Lola was the sweet one and loved to be handled where Poppy is a bit stand off ish and growls if I put my hand in but was fine when I first got her. I have now decided to take Poppy back to the shop, I know it's horrible but I just can't stand knowing that she killed lovely Lola and still keep her as a pet. I know it's nothing to do with dwarves whatsoever, but I now think I shall stick to syrians for a while longer.
Rest in peace Lola I'm sorry you reached this sad fate.

So sorry to hear of your loss agatecrystal. RIP Lola
Perhaps you could find it in your heart to forgive Poppy agatecrystal. She meant nothing bad as that is not an emotion hamsters feel. She was simply acting on an instinct. I know you could give her a wonderful home if you kept her and you will find she changes when alone I think. You can do it agatecrystal. You can tame her and love her as a fitting tribute to her sister. Lola would have liked that and when they are together again one day at the bridge they will remember you fondly.

Re: RIP Lola
aww I am so sorry to hear this, it must be so distressing for you, and my heart does go out to you indeed It is just nature of course, but I do understand your reaction to this, as i have had a similar thing happen a good few years ago, when one of my son's gerbils killed the other. It was sickening, and I am ashamed to say, I felt that I couldn't get past the feeling and so found a new and good home for the remaining one.
Souffle has a point, and if you can find it in your big heart to forgive Poppy for her actions, I know you would be proud of yourself and Poppy would have a wonderful home, I'd like to think I could do this nowadays, but if you cannot, it may be better for her to be in a home where she is handled and loved for herself, as I know with the other gerbil, I could never actually bring myself to handle it after. Sorry, but I have to admit that that was the case.
*hugs to you* and rest well little Lola xx

I tried handling her before and got a very nasty bite. I could tame her thats not a problem at all, I just don't think I could bring myself to love her when I know she killed her sister/cagemate. I feel terrible for even saying this as I have kept a guinea pig who before killed her hutch mate because they both fought as bad as each other but Lola was the sweet little innocent shy one and couldn't defend herself. I just don't think I could bring myself to forgive her
