Thank you all for the kind words and for understanding.

It takes time, I guess, though part of me never wants it to stop hurting because I don't want to stop missing him. We walked past the vet where he is kept till the pet crematorium people pick him up. Silly as it sounds, we both shouted softly, Hamchan, hope you are okay in there!

I spoke with the chap at the crematorium to find out about their process. He sounded like someone who understood. he promised to ate good care of him when they picked him up.

Oh dear. I had to grab one of my hamsters to give them a cuddle after reading your beautiful words. I'm sure Hamchan will appreciate it- such a beautiful hamster. Yes, it's really hard to come to terms with it. Perhaps it's "magical thinking" but in some ways, we pretend he's still alive. I know it's only true in the sense he's in my heart. But it doesn't make it any easier to clear out his cage or talk about him in the past tense. He will always been part of us.
