Rosa was my special girl and she lit up my life in the time she was with me. She was only 16 months old and her passing was sudden and unexpected. Now she is no longer here, there is a massive gap in my life but I am privileged to have had the time with such an amazing hamster. Her little body may be gone but her spirit will remain with me always and she holds a special place in my heart.
She was named after Rosa Parks, a strong and brave woman. My Rosa had the same qualities, she also had a beautiful temperament and an endlessly inquisitive nature. She liked to have a long chat in the evenings after her run and would always be at the bars of her cage with her ears pricked up when anyone left the room as if to say “What about me?”.
I have placed a miniature white rose bush where her cage used to be. She has been cremated and I will pick up her ashes on Monday - it gives me some comfort to have a memorial.
I hope she knew she was a special hamster.
