Sadly, our school hamster Spud has died. We do not know his age but we think he is around 3, which is very old for a hamster. He was an Argente Campbell's, and had a lump on his cheek, but didn't seem to be suffering. He was a lively part of our school and will not be forgotten. R.I.P little Spud, we will miss you.
Here is a poem I wrote for him
In Memory of Our School Hamster, Spud
Tiny hamster, very small,
Ambling happily in your ball,
Sometimes you were rather naughty,
The look on your face could be quite haughty,
But now he’s gone, no one’s there,
Everything looks Oh so bare,
His cage is empty, all is quiet,
No Spud is there to create a riot,
We’ll really miss you little Spud,
You were for sure my best bud,
You taught us how to love and care,
A gift I hope we all can share,
I’m glad I saw you near the end,
To say goodbye, my tiny friend,
I knew you had not long to go,
But missing you still hurts me so,
Your fur again I’ll never stroke,
From your nest your face will never poke,
So Rest in Peace our little man,
You really were our School’s Best Ham.
