Default Prince Harry has passed away...

Prince Harry was not a member of the royal family he started his life out living like a pauper end ended it as a king.

Prince Harry was one of my guinea pigs he was an emergency rescue, the rescue were he came from I am led to understand were backed into a corner to take him my understanding was that it was either a case of take him or he'll be dumped. When he was taken by the rescue he was a mess underweight, terrified and his long fur full of tats (his owners openly admitted that has been dragging a comb through his fur to clear the tats!

I took him on a week later and he was a wreck skin and bone, bald and terrified. With lots of love and care he blossomed, came out of his shell, put weight on, gained confidence and transpired into a piggy with the most beautiful, gentle personality and he was also a fantastic friend and companion to Sparky.

I had Prince Harry for just over three years on Friday he became ill then picked up again but lost the use of his back legs but over 48hours regained it. Then on Tuesday became ill again and went off his food despite my best attempts to get him eating again and syringing food and fluid into him it slowly slipped away. He spent most of Wednesday night sleeping on my bed and never moved by Thursday he was really poorly, I took to see the vet yesterday afternoon and they found a large tumour in his stomach and in all likelihood the loss of his back legs was a neurological symptoms of the cancer and that the only real option was to have him put to sleep They let me stay with him throughout and he passed away peacefully at 4.30pm.

Rest in peace gentleman pig and thank you.

What a wonderful story, he sounds like once he had found you he lived a very happy and full life, he will be looking down from the bridge thinking what a lucky piggy he was.

RIP Prince Harry x x

Thank you for your lovely replies, they mean a lot its been a tough week here. I miss my wee man dreadfully Sparky, his cage mate is terribly lonely on his own he's much quieter than normal and not eating that well.

I have contacted a rescue who have offered to help pair Sparky up with a new pal although it seems far too early to me to have another piggy I want to do what's best for Sparky. Frustratingly the rescue despite despite assurances that they will send the information "the following day" I was promised it both Monday and Wednesday I am yet to hear any more. I would much prefer to get a rescue piggy but I am getting to the point where I may need to consider a pet-shop piggy as Sparky is so low and unhappy the big trouble with that is what if Sparky doesn't like the new pal I have chosen him, I would like him to chose his own friend.
