Looking for syrian hamster breeders in Kent or Essex area
Im been trying to get a syrian hamster since July Im on a waiting list with a breeder but as of yet they've only had 1 litter of 7 since I joined 2 months ago and it's not looking likely that il get one from that litter
Iv had no luck finding anything closer than 3hrs drive away so thought I'd ask on here
If anyone knows of any breeders in Kent or Essex areas?

You could also look on sites like gumtree, pets4homes, preloved, freeads and social media market place and rescue pages to give an unwanted Syrian a home.

I have been looking but I want one from an ethical breeder this time as iv rescued before and most of those would have been born in rodent Mills
Unfortunately finding gd breeders is very difficult I thought I'd found one in the town I live but he rufused to shoe me his setups which is a red flag that there not good

I think breeders have to be registered with the hamster council. There is this list of registered ones.

I am on the list for one but her hamster didn't want to breed in the hotter weather so it's taking longer than I hoped
Im probably looking at another 3+ months with her

Re: Looking for syrian hamster breeders in Kent or Essex area
There's nothing ethical about a backyard breeder. And watch out, there are plenty of byb who call themselves ethical but are in it for the money.
As cloudy already said, you need to check the hamster council or southern hamster club to locate a registered breeder and then you probably have to join a waiting list if you want a baby hamster. Sometimes registered breeders have hamsters available who are retired from breeding and looking for a home as a pet. These retired hamsters are still youngish and well under a year old.

When you say you dont want to rescue as the hamster could be from a rodent mill, are you worries about their genetics?
