Sorry missed this! I checked out Guinea Pig Teleport but found this "We not cover Devon, Cornwall, Wales, Scotland at all". I'm assuming that means they aren't travelling to Devon at all? They cover more of the middle of England than down here.

Re: Hamster rescues or breeders in Torbay?
Little update. I had gotten in contact with Happy Hamsters however the only rescues they have "near me" is by Swindon or Ross-on-Wye, which are both around 140 miles away and ultimately rather unreachable on train. I asked if I could be informed if there is a hamster in the area that needs help but I doubt I'll actually be able to source a rescue from there, as I was told there wasn't many hamsters for adoption in the entirety of South West (or at least where I'm stationed).

I am so sad to hear how difficult it is for you to get a hamster. What a shame guinea pig teleport do not cover your area. You can offer a wonderful home and any hamster would be lucky to be with you.

So your cage isn't ready yet? Chances are that by the time it's done and all set up ready for a hamster to move in one may be in the small ads looking for a home. I have seen them advertised in Devon.
How far would you be able to travel on the train? Where to?

Re: Hamster rescues or breeders in Torbay?
I don't know a great deal about what rescues are in the area but if you can get to Dawlish on 5th March, there's a hamster show hosted by the Southern Hamster Club where they may have hamsters available for sale or you could arrange to pick up a hamster there from a Club Breeder if they are attending.
The details you need, if you're interested can be found: http://hamsters-uk.org/showdocuments...awlish2022.pdf

Thanks! I'll definitely check that out if I haven't secured a hamster by then. There is a little female hamster available in the Manchester & Plymouth Hamster rescue. I just need to put together a cage after moving rooms, so unsure as of how long that'd take.
And thank you for the courier link! I'll have a look, but I think my main focus is rescuing an animal in need in my area.

Re: Hamster rescues or breeders in Torbay?
Hey Heidii,
Did you manage to get a hamster in the end? If you haven’t this is a long shot and not really exactly one that needs adopting, I’m not sure.
This just came up on my Facebook feed: Hamster Foster and Rescue UK
They’re trying to find the owner in Torquay area the hamster was found running around a beer garden. Now obviously if it has an owner it would be great for it to get back to them I’m not saying steal the hammie! But maybe you should reach out to them and say you have a full setup, if the owner is not found you can care for them or hold until the owner is found.
I just thought since you’re in that area it may be of interest to you.

There's a thread for Heidii's new hamster. He is absolutely gorgeous!
