I'm in Farnham (an hour away), and am in mid-process of setting up a professional pet sitting company. Not terribly close (M3 to Winchester, then A31), but more than happy to sit in my own home. Can also provide a pet taxi service for collect and drop-off (be £36 mates-rates) if required. I haven't had syrians since I was about 14, but I do have my own russian hybrid (and obviously access to hamster central for insta-knowledge base, combined with my mini library. I also have a spare ZZ2 on hand in case of squabbles (sure my hog won't mind releasing her vacation pad to the cause ).

No cats, but one very blind and dippy dog, a hedgehog, and my hammie, so noone will get eaten

I know how you feel about leaving pets alone, and there seem to be so few pet sitters that will take on small furries and exotics (hence my start-up ).

Feel free to PM me if you're interested

Hiya, I'm also pretty near you, I'm near Winchester. Am happy to ham sit if you're still looking. I know how hard it can be to find someone really ham friendly within driving distance, so give me a shout if I can help

Thank you very much for all your kind offers! It's so nice to know people are willing to help

Pom, I'd really like to take you up on your offer if that's still OK, as you're only about 20 minutes down the road. I'll PM you. Thank you sooooo much!!

I'm glad it looks like you've got things sorted.
I can never find anywhere near me that takes in small furries either....or they do but expect to use their own cages which are teeny tiny which I wouldn't put my animals in.
Maybe I should start up my own sitting service!

Most pet sitters shouldn't be offering you their own cages - it is better practice to use the pet's own cage - because that is where their 'smell' is, and is familiar, even in an unfamiliar house.

That said, my fear (as a pet sitter) is the reverse - I have cages on hand because I don't want to get stuck with pets in cages like the rotastaks and so forth - but mostly as display models (they are my own pet's travel cages, but they are bigger than the RSPCA minimum ).
