Default I want to adopt a Syrian hamster but can't find any, please help.

Hello,

My little Syrian left to play at rainbow bridge a couple of days ago, it's so quiet without him. I have mixed feelings about buying a new hamster, feel like its too soon, and disrespectful to Rodney!

I have been searching the Internet and the only hamster rescue that I have found is in London, as I live right in the south I thought a car journey like that would be too long and upsetting for a hamster. I've replied to ads on Preloved for hamsters needing a new home, but they have either beed rehomed or my message hasnt been replied to. Ive tried the local RSPCA and they dont have any in (which I guess is a good thing really). I'm not worried about age, even if I could give an older hammy a good home for its last months it would be worth it.

I just wondered whether anybody knew of anywhere I could adopt a Syrian hamster?

It is the right time when you feel it is right Laura. There is always room in your heart to share with a new little one. Each one just makes your heart grow bigger
Hams travel very well in a secure carrier so don't worry about that.
Have you contacted Tuftyfluff hamsters? They may have a hamster for you.

Try Preloved and Gumtree. I saw a hamster up for adoption in Winchester a week or so ago, who'd been abandoned in his cage in a pet shop car park.

I was going to say Gumtree, I saw that you said you've tried Preloved. Gumtree always have quite a few on, They usually come with a cage and they're often being sold for at least £10....

I saw some Syrians in the local Trade It, maybe there will be some in yours?

There is a hamster rescue called Scritches in Hampshire which has a female Syrian looking for a home. There's more info on this thread: Delilah - Long Haired Syrian - Hampshire

Good luck in your search and I hope you find a hammy soon
