Hi there! I'm Falltimefog, and I am a (hopefully) soon-to-be new dwarf hamster owner. I've never really owned a pet before but I love animals (handled ethically!) and have been doing a lot of research on how to raise hamsters so they're as happy and healthy as possible. I live in New Jersey where it is actually quite difficult to find dwarf hamsters as they are considered exotic (whereas Syrians are not), and you need to a permit to own one. There's a whole process with a temporary permit and stuff that I'm hoping I'll do correctly :P If there are any dwarf hamster owners or anyone else knowledgeable about this subject in NJ or any other similar states, I would greatly appreciate any help. And thanks for having me!

Coming from Canada, that's wild to hear that you need a permit for dwarf hamsters! I never realized that would be a thing
