Default Finley

Well, that's it now. I've tried for months to find Finley a better home but only had enquiries from people who wouldn't have improved his life. So i'm giving up and poor Finley is stuck with us now. Not that he's complaining, not as long as i don't take him out of his little tank anyway. It's me who is stressed about keeping him in there.

I stored Romy's Kerry terrarium in the greenhouse and now i'm thinking if it would be possible to take the metal shelf off the coffee table, place the Kerry on it and raise the coffee table legs with high castors to roll over and away from the Kerry to open and close it.
Hmm, i'll get the tape measure out, after i've made the curry....

Finley is very settled with you now and I think he will be happiest staying with you. If you change his cage I hope he does not have a tantrum again.

Is your partner happy you have decided to have Finley stay with you?

Hmm, yes, he probably would throw a tantrum if i'd change his tank and the location of it. Not only that, under the coffee table would bring him into close proximity with me and he'd hate that.

Not sure my partner is even aware that i tried to rehome Finley. Every time i got a new rescue hamster he asked if we can keep that one.

Aw I love that your partner says that! That is so lovely. I think Finley will be happier at your home. Maybe you can say your partner is his carer as he seems to like your partner.

I decided to do the dirty deed today and spot clean the right side of Finley's tank. I had also decided not to take him out.
I knew that he used the obs hide as a toilet and was right. It needed a clean out. Finley shot out of his house very annoyed then run back in squeaking very loudly and angrily. I chatted to him which didn't go down well so i just got on with the job as swiftly as possible. Not quickly enough it seemed as Finley run around in the emptied part squeaking. I mixed the old, fairly clean substrate with fresh and put everything back in. Finley calmed down and started digging.
The wheel is dirty and so is the house roof but that's a job for another day.
Finley is one grumpy Robo and reminds me so much of Rupert.

Pleased you still got the clean completed even with little Finlay running round in the part you were doing and that he calmed down after a dig about; saw all was well and then got back to hamstering about in his wheel when your OH saw him. Nice he showed himself again last night and hasn’t stayed grumpy for too long. He’s a super cute looking Robo

I'm going to get a second, identical wheel so i can put a fresh one in when the pee'ed on one needs a clean. I did this with Scottie's wheel yesterday and put the spare silent runner in while i took his apart for a good clean. He run on it and now it smells of him! We must have the two messiest Robos and cloudy has the tidiest one.

And yes, Robos Scottie and Finley couldn't be more different in their personalities and behaviours.

Same as Syrians Clive and Jack have very different personalities but have similar ages and backgrounds. Both were unwanted children's pets living in tiny cages without wheels. Clive is highly strung, nervy, easily scared and all over the place whereas Jack is the most layed back and calm hamster i've ever met.

That's a great idea I must be lucky as hardly any of my hamsters have pee'd in their wheels!

I haven't seen Finley at all since i spot cleaned his tank.
When my partner came upstairs last night he said, i've just seen my mate Finley on his wheel.
