Probably depends on their personality. I think the amount of time people spend with their hamsters and the environment they live in may also have an influence on their behaviour.
Scottie is in a huff with me since i cleaned his cage. He won't come out and he won't come to see me in the morning to get a mealworm. I thought he was alright about it at first but he wasn't.
Oddly, his behaviour has changed. He used to hover around in the evening until i had gone to bed and then go on his wheel but now he goes on his wheel whenever he feels like it. Soon as i open his door to see if he wants out, he hops off the wheel and goes behind it but goes back on soon as i have closed his door.
I am guilty of upsetting his routine by cleaning his cage and i made him wait in a playpen. Not acceptable i guess
and he's letting me know.
Will be interesting to see Cupcake's response once you have to do a bit of spotcleaning.
Clarissa actually hang off my sleeve trying to stop me!
Those little brown ones with the dorsal stripe, whether winter whites or hybrids (Clarissa was a hybrid, Gertie is a pedigree) are very spirited and opinionated dwarfs, in my experience anyway.
