i dont have any hamsters at the moment but i am planning on getting one next week as a present for myself. its been a while since i had a hamster so i am having to redo my research and have seen i can no longer get the barney cage which makes me sad as that cage was awesome

It is always worth loking on ebay/second hand sites. I managed to find an alaska 5 mins from me at £20!

Hello and welcome to HC!

I have seen the Barney second hand on Gumtree but don't like it because of the small doors.

The Savic Plaza is available online from pets@home and a good alternative.

I also have second hand Alaskas for the Syrians and Hamster Heavens for the dwarfs.

Welcome! What hamster is going to share their life with you next week? A Syrian? A Dwarf?
I have this feeling next week isn't just going to be a present for yourself, but also for the hamster too. You both will be gifting each other the greatest present of all...Time together. Enjoy.

not sure i guess it will be go to the pet shop and see who i fall in love with, or if they have any in their adoption centers

That's where I met my Roborovski Dwarf Hamster. The local pet shop. She was the only one in this small glass enclosure. She was running on her wheel when I approached the glass. She stopped and darted behind this small plastic house and peeked around the corner of it, saw me still standing there and with my finger touching the glass. She came over and stood up sniffing, but her one tiny paw was against the glass where my finger was. I felt she needed me as much as I needed her.
The hardest thing you will have to endure by simply 'going' to the pet shop is you will fall in love with ALL of them. I do think everyone here in HC will agree to this
