Smile Soon-To-Be Owner

Sup yall

This is a 130x55x60cm aqua (100-gallon) that I plan on using for my future Hamster.

I did plenty of research regarding different hamsters, and I'm considering getting 2 (of the same sex) siblings of the Winter white dwarfs, either male or female.

I still have plenty of research and set up to do

I'll be in your care!

Definitely don't get a pair of hamsters of any species. None of them are social, and you can end up with serious and quite devastating consequences if you do no matter how many things you do to try and avoid the inevitable. The enclosure size would be wonderful for a single dwarf though!

Hello and welcome to HC!

Your aquarium will make a great habitat for one hamster of any species. You do need to DIY a meshed lid.

I sometimes foster and rehome hamsters and had a dwarf with a large scar, a Robo who had eaten her sister and a number of dwarfs who were made homeless after fighting with their sibling.

Recently i refused to rehome a Robo to someone who wanted her as a companion for her dwarf and this person became annoyed when i advised her to research proper hamster care.

Please do not house a pair in the same habitat.

I'm glad that you are a responsible person who researches before getting a hamster.

I used to think dwarfs were okay with litter mates until I got told otherwise. I’m now adopting a hamster that I pick up today from a charity. They’re definitely solitary animals.

Thanks for the reply @AmityvilleHams @Ria P @My my my Delilah

before making this post I did some research on the most social Hamsters and thought WW dwarfs would be perfect since I planned on having two, but after reading your replie's I did even more research and realized that even though they may be less territorial, Things can still quickly go south.

And after some research, I've decided on a Syrian Hamster instead, only one of course!

Good luck with him/her. I had the most adorable Syrian years ago. Now I’ve got another hamster I can’t stop thinking of her. I miss her so much and it’s been 20 odd years.

My new hamster (Delilah) is still settling in. I’m hoping she’ll allow me to handle her. She doesn’t like skin contact so I’m gonna wear gloves to start with.

I think a Syrian is a great choice! Especially if it's your first hamster. Which country are you in? (After seeing your food thread).
