Trying to save Daisy
Please advise me if possible. My female Syrian Daisy who’s approx 3-4 months olds upper teeth are curved back up towards the roof of her mouth. It’s almost but not quite piercing the roof and I have taken her to the vet to have them trimmed. She jumped out of the pet shop workers hands from a height when i first got her and don’t know if this is what has caused this as it broke one of her bottom teeth. The vet then phoned and told me that he had only trimmed the bottom and that he didn’t want to touch the top teeth and I should consider “ letting her go” as it would be too much for her to go through every time her teeth grow as he thinks they would grow the same way. I managed to talk one of the female vets into trying to trim the top teeth next week if she can as I don’t want to give up on my Daisy too easily. Has anyone else experienced this? Did the teeth grow back the same way? Did you manage to keep them trimmed longer with chew toys etc. I’m so torn by all this

Re: Trying to save Daisy
Poor Daisy.
Maloccluded teeth are a lifelong commitment and need trimmed every few weeks.
Some vets will teach you how to do this and some will give a small whiff of gas each time so that it is easily done. That is a rsik worth taking I would say though as it they pierce the palate it does cause problems.
Another option is to have the teeth removed. They do have back teeth so can still eat easily and chew and an adapted diet can mean they are able to live a normal life.
Maybe find an exotics vet who might be better. Where are you located?
