Question Is my hamster wheel dangerous?

Screen-Shot-2021-02-09-at-8-53-57-PM — ImgBB

Hello everyone, I am new in this forum and I am also a new hamster owner!!

Above I inserted the link for a picture of my hamster's wheel. I just wanted to know if the wheel is safe? I am asking since the wheel is bumpy and I am concerned it might hurt her feet.

She has been using her for a few days and everything seems fine, but I want to be completely sure it is safe for her to use.

Hi and welcome to HC!

This is a strange looking wheel and not one i've ever come across.
I wouldn't use it and get a normal wheel instead with a flat running surface. This one doesn't look comfortable or safe to run on and could lead to an injury or fracture, in my opinion.

Hello. It looks very nice and the right size. It is an interesting one whether or not an uneven surface is bad for their feet because the karlie wood wheel used to have struts on it and the silent spinner had ridges. And people used them without real issue. But generally it is considered a smooth running surface is better and yes they can get a foot condition called bumblefoot - so it would be better to get one with a smooth level running surface. The indentations on the surface are quite pronounced.

Which country are you in?
