So do i because we know our hamsters better.
Ozzy has definitely perked up since he's been on a daily maintenance dose of Metacam.

It is a curious thing how some hamsters change as they get older and like you say, could well be down to trust.

Rory used to be quite a reserved hamster who didn't communicate much and i always felt that i didn't really know him that well.
It changed over the last couple of months when he started to climb up my legs or hover around me when he was ready for his nightly stair run. He also lets me know in the same way when he's hungry and wants back in his cage. Rory's about 17 months now and i've had him since he was 2 months old so took him a long long time to finally "talk" to this human.

Maybe some of them are like teenagers. More interested in doing their own thing but like to know you’re around

Dear old Ozzy is getting quite dottery and a bit unsteady on his feet. Time has come to move into a bungalow.

He's starting to look a little drawn and somewhat loopsided but as a genetically disadvantaged pet shop dwarf hybrid with health issues, at least he's still with us.

I think that he's either going blind or senile. Ozzy came to the front of his HH again and sniffed me. Ozzy doesn' do humans and this kind of behaviour is out of character but it could also mean that he has started looking for his way to the rainbow bridge.

I stroked him this morning and he gave me his "there's no need for that!" look but at least he didn't shake me off.

Ozzy's perked up a bit, his fur looks so much better and he came to his door again! I'm amazed at how well he's doing. The Metacam works wonders for him and the mealworms help.

That is such good news. Metacam is indeed a wonder drug. Both of our hams are on that at the moment. X
