Introduction with a question
Hi All,
My name is Tina, I have had quite a few hamsters, Syrians & Dwarfs.
I absolutely love them, they are like miniature bears. I have a male silky champagne coloured Syrian hamster called Maximus at the moment, he turned one in March
I have had so many different cages and I am currently wanting to change what I have at the moment to a Detolf, the issue I have is the space for it to go is about 30cm to short, which is really annoying.
Does anyone know if there is a way that I can make the Detolf a bit shorter in length please? I really really want to be able to give Maximus this as his new home.
Many thanks in advance!

Re: Introduction with a question
Hi, and welcome to Hamster Central!
There isn't a way to make the detolf shorter; it's solid glass with fixed ends. But there are other hamster enclosures / terrariums which are not quite as long as the detolf, and they are just as nice. Sorry, no good at links, but when I was looking around for a new enclosure online (I bought a detolf in the end) I did come across some other possibilities.
Good luck!

Re: Introduction with a question
Junglepets sells aquariums in various sizes and makes them to order as well.
I wouldn't attempt to shorten a detolf but i suppose it could be done by a professional glass cutting company and the base would need to be reattached.
Couldn't you accommodate a detolf by moving the furniture around? That's usually the easiest option.
