Hi and welcome to the world of dwarves and HC!

I also have a dwarf who lives in a DIY bin cage and has a DIY playpen box.

Dwarves love a sand bath. Does Flynn have one?

Best not to feed them fruit and carrots because they can be prone to diabetes.

They love to burrow so need deep substrate.

Anything you want to know just ask.

Welcome to you and Flynn!

Versele-Laga mini hamster nature is a good balanced food. I've used it for my dwarf hamsters from day one and they do like it. As an occasional treat (twice a week perhaps) you can add in some sunflower seeds and millet to their food. Even better still you can get a 'millet spray' from the petstore. It is very cheap and is basically millet seed on a natural stalk. They absolutely love that.

Avoid giving him fruit or anything sweet due to the sugar content. Dwarf hamsters are very prone to diabetes and obesity.

Avoid completely any avocado, tomato and all citrus fruits too.

They also love to have a place to hide...does Flynn have a nest or house? If so, one without a floor is best as they like to be able to go into their house and burrow into the substrate to store their seeds and food.
