Hi there! I've had a lot of hamsters throughout my life, and I almost every time I have a question I need to search up, this forum is one of the results that pop up, and I decided it was silly that I hadn't joined yet, so here I am!
Just over a week ago, on the 2nd, I had to say goodbye to my wonderful long-haired syrian, Wirt, who was suffering from old age and I had to make the hard decision to intervene so he wouldn't have to suffer even longer. It's still very weird without him around, so it felt wrong to introduce myself here without mentioning him, as he is still very near and dear to my heart.
But as for living hamsters, I currently have two!
A winter white named Miko who I "share custody" with my little sister (as in, I pay for everything and oversee/instruct the care, but she's in charge of the cleaning/feeding to help her learn about caring for animals)
And my newest addition, who is filling Wirt's vacancy. I just picked her up this morning from her owner who needed to rehome her. She's a pure white syrian, and I have not named her just yet (I'm still toying with some ideas, I'm very indecisive). I'm very happy to be giving her a better home, and so far she seems like she will settle in smoothly, but we'll see how things go!
(this picture is one taken by her previous owner. I'm letting her settle in a bit before I try to start bothering her with a camera in her face)
Thanks so much for having this awesome community to join! I hope to have fun, learn a lot, and see lots of cute hamsters~
