Re: Greetings from Chewbacca
Yes I think Chewy is indeed a boy
The testicle fairy has paid her a visit. This is very common - wrongly sexed hamsters. It can be hard to sex youngsters especially long haired ones. I could just tell from experience with the fur!
We find boys actually tend to be a bit more laid back to be honest so that will suit you. You can also enjoy styling his fur with a toothbrush Get him used to grooming soon as that fur will get long. You can trim it if it tangles. He won't mind.
You may want to change bedding to something like carefresh as shavings can tangle real badly as the fur gets longer.
He looks like he will be a beauty and the name sound more boyish anyway

Re: Greetings from Chewbacca
Oh my, super dooper! Hehe.
I wanted a pet I could groom a bit, as it's really soothing, so yes, I do have a toothbrush at the ready! He is a bit lively at the moment though, I've never had a hamster that just sits about ones person.
Yeah, I have a ton of shavings, I might put them on freecycle and order something more suitable online then, before he gets all rufty tufty!
Thanks lots Souffle, I owe you one!!

Re: Greetings from Chewbacca
Then he won't mind living in the campest pink house ever? He can be the Lily Savage of the hammie world and not have a clue about it.

Re: Greetings from Chewbacca
When I got Dewey I couldn't help but decorate his cage with all pink things, as it's my favorite color. I knew he was a boy, but I love pink. He's got all new things now as he's grown lol
