Most per shop hamsters are actually hybrids somewhere along their lines as hybridisation produces some pretty colours which is why the commercial breeders have done this. Healthwise there can be some issues though so you should never knowingly breed hybrids.
When looking at a hamster you can, with experience give an opinion of what it most closely matches
If you look at this site you can see pics of the dwarf hamsters and see what the colours of pure animals look like but naturally there are good and bad examples of each which can 'overlap' somewhat.
Most pet shops just sell as Russian Dwarfs as they do not know any better.
The Campbells and the Winter White in the wild would occupy different regions in Russia and would never interbreed in the wild. They look distinctively different in the pure form but are close enough genetically to be interbred.
Because we have shown for a number of years you can pick out colours quite easily
