Re: Help with name and also breed?
Awe, Chester! What a cute name for such an adorable, loving hammy. He truly is a cute, little guy. I love that taming is going so wonderfully for you, and congrats on him letting you rub his chin. What a sweetheart he is! Good luck with the possible DIY bin cage project. I hope that all goes well there, too!

Re: Help with name and also breed?
Cut similar holes as you would for ventilation sections(use a wood burning knife, which is honestly your best friend when it comes to bin cages!)but make sure they're placed in ways that would offer easy hamster access between each bin. You'll need to do very large holes, leaving just the slightest remainder of plastic between each where they can be zip tied together.

Re: Help with name and also breed?
Aww he is really lovely. He looks closest to a pearl Winter White in colour / shape but he will be a hybrid.
If he is content and happy in that cage I wouldn't move him at all personally. Right cage for the individual and one that makes him happy is better than stressing him out with another cage move at least for now.

Re: Help with name and also breed?
I do like the name Chester too, it seems to suit him
I agree that if he's happy don't worry too much about an upgrade for now, maybe keep a look out for a suitable bin & move him over if he seems like he'd enjoy more space once he's had a chance to settle.
Side by side bins can be difficult to do & you would have to be very careful to make them escape proof, by the time you buy the bins & figure all that out you'd probably find it easier & cheaper to find a nice cage!

Re: Help with name and also breed?
Congrats on Chester - he looks very sweet. Love that photo of him drinking whilst he is sitting in his bowl.
I agree with soufflé and cypher - if he seems happy currently in his cage then I wouldn't worry about upgrading right now. Unless you feel that he would appreciate a larger cage.

I like the name Chester. As others have said. It may be best not to move him at the moment..

Re: Help with name and also breed?
I have decided to wait after all, he seems happy enough for the moment, I have a tub ready if I feel he is getting bored and need more to do , he doesn't seem to be bar biting but does like hi sand bath and tunnel around the cage and his ones I put under his fitch too, I have to dig him out to find him when I want to check on him and make sure he's not too warm lol
I did have a slight oops moment earlier though , I opened his cage and before I knew it he was climbing on the door I went to pick him up and put him back in and he dropped to the floor, only about a foot and a half but I feel really bad , I have been checking on him and he seems ok, but it scared me when it happened!
