That looks good. Has he been tunnelling in the Fitch?

How deep is the Fitch? Syrians don't tend to dig in my experience, if the bedding is less than 8 inches. 12+ in is really optimum though. You could try filling it more Fitch and see if he'll dig, but some hams just aren't burrowers!

I have not had a hamster for about 20 years so it feels new again, although I started off with the basics in his home I have added a new item each day, this is the setup so far
On the first day I added the wooden stick, yesterday I added the tubes to the side of his cage and today I added the food stick.
So far he seems happy

Congratulations!

Re: Me and my Shadow
my baby boy passed away on 16th August , he had conjunctivitis and and hadn't eaten for a couple of days when the vet saw him on the monday, she gave him an injection, i was doing his eye drops and antibiotics but he went downhill quickly and on wednesday morning i took him to be pts
I am heartbroken and miss him, I have only just today emptied and cleaned his cage and accessories, I kept coming into the room every morning and looking over to it, when i'd feed my bunny he would always wake up to see what i was doing and although i know he's not there I would still check his cage to see if he was awake , during the day and evening I would look over to see if he is awake

Re: Me and my Shadow
I'm so sorry to hear this, I can imagine how much you must miss him, it's always so hard to lose a ham but you did your best for him & did the kindest thing in the end.
Cherish the memories, he will always live on in your heart & it does get easier with time.
Run free & play well at the bridge Shadow.
