Is it ok to blow dry your hair in the same room as your hamsters?

Today I decided to blow my hair and quickly thought will this stress my hamster out?This is a short post I know but I need to ask:/

Hamsters quickly become used to everyday sights and sounds and in fact it is a good idea to introduce them to all sorts of things. You have to dry your hair and vacuum the house, play music and watch TV so start at a distance and gradually get closer and they will soon not bother about things going on around them

My hamster lives in the kitchen / lounge area of our flat (there's nowhere else to put her - we live in a tiny flat). She's totally used to normal household sounds now, very confident, and only flinches/jumps if there's a very sudden bang.

Keep doing normal day-to-day things around your ham and they will become used to it all

I agree, it wouldn't hurt your ham to experience a bit of noise here and there! I vacuum in my hamster room all the time and at first it spooked them a bit, but now they don't even budge when I come parading through. No need to worry

I agree with everyone's posts. It is definitely a good idea to keep things as normal as possible to your everyday routines so your hamster will get used to all the typical noises and activities. Definitely don't worry, everything will be fine.

I agree too, it's the only way for them to get used to noises. I remember my first hamster years ago and I would tiptoe round the flat.

I have my two in my living room, I watch TV, play music, sit on Skype all day, have friends round (and their children). I've told the children they need to be mindful but I wont stop doing daily things in my living room because of the hamsters. I'm mindful of them and I don't go nuts with volume, but I do live as I would if they weren't here. When they do come out to investigate a noise, I generally hover for a little while when they become uninterested they'd get a treat. Now they don't bother coming out at all 99% of the time!

They need to become accustomed to such noises, you wont wrap children in cotton wool, so why hamsters?
