Default Heyy :)

I'm Emilyy I'm nealy 17 and currently have 4 hamsters.

Rosie
This is my little Rosie Shes just turned 2 and is one of the friendliest, cuddlyest hamsters I've ever had. She's really healthy and active, even though shes 2 now.

Sammy
This is my winter white Sammy He's about 1 and a half now, and I also had one of his brothers, Smudge, but he died a couple of months ago . Sam's really squishy, and seems to have gone alot whiter recently

When Smudgey died, I got him cremated. Here's his little place with his stuff

Sonny
I got Sonny about a month after Smudge died. He's about 8 weeks old now, and isn't completly tame yet, but hes getting better and better every day I loveeee his hair so much XD

Ruby
Ruby is the latest addition to my hamster family. I wasn't intending on getting another hamster, but I got a phonecall from my aunty saying she had rescued a 5 month old hamster from a family who wasn't looking after her. She had babies 7 weeks ago, who were only seperated from her a couple of days ago. Problem is, before they were seperated, at 7 weeks one of her babies was seen "mating" her, so there may be a possibility that she is pregnant again. Shes really friendly, especially considering that she hasn't been handled much.

Hiya Emily

Welcome the forum!!

I hope you enjoy your time here I think you have come to the right place with all those beautiful hammies

All of your hamsters are beautiful, and i love the little place you have for Smudge - that is so sweet

Ruby is looking lovely and it is great that you have rescued her As you have already found out, male babies should really be removed from the mother and female babies at 4 weeks - but obviously your aunt didnt know, and she has been split now - so the only thing you can do is look after her and hope for the best

It wont hurt to feed her little extras each day - she will probably need them even if she isnt pregnant just to help her out with getting back into shape after rearing the babies You can give her boiled egg, scrambled egg, plain cooked chicken, bits of pasta, ready brek etc.

All of this will help her if she does have a second litter too

Good Luck and keep us posted

Tammy x

Welcome to the forum. You have some beautiful hamsters Sorry to hear of the loss of your little one but he had a lovely and happy life with you
Looking forward to hearing more about your hammies.
Baby syrians need separated from mum at 4 weeks to prevent interbreeding.

Thank youu

One thing that I was wondering was, if she is pregnant, how would I be able to tell?

Her first litter only had 3 babies, so if she was pregnant again with a small litter, would she become as round in the belly?

Hiya,

if she is only having a small litter you might not even be able to notice at all.

How long has she been away from the babies? The Syrian gestation period is only 16 days, so if she has been apart for longer than that then she cannot be pregnant.

EDIT:

sorry, just re read your post and saw that she has only been away from them for 2 days - so you might just have to plan for a litter anyway. A male might have mated with her before the male you saw mating with her, so she could be due anytime now really.

You just need to be extra careful around her, make sure you give her as much food as she can eat, an extra food once a day and just keep an eye on her

Good Luck,

Tammy x

Hey to you to and welcome to hamster central. The flicks you have taken of your hamsters are beautiful - thank you for sharing. I had my hamster cremated and we still have her ashes - somehow i always felt that she belonged here and because to me she hasn't left I have kept her and her bits and peices
