Default New to hamsters

Hi!

I'm pretty new to hamsters and brand new here.

I appear to have ended up with two Russian Dwarf hamsters after we were looking after them for a weekend and the owner never came to get them.
I know for definite tonight whether we're keeping hold of them or whether she's been back (which is kind sweet as it's my birthday).

I already have two dalmatians, a cat and am on the waiting list for a house bunny so the hamsters are just a new addition to our mad house!

As they were left with no details at all, we've named them ourselves - Rocky (who loves to do monkey bars across the top of his cage) and Rolo (who is a tad overweight) - they're kept separately as they fight and since we got them, we've bought them stuff to do because they had nothing to do except bury in the shavings and Rocky could climb the bars (Rolo has a plastic cage with no bars).

I own a pet shop (don't sell animals though) so am quite au fait with products to an extent but have very little experience of the actual hamster beasties!

Hoping to learn plenty (providing they don't go home today!)

Lottie

Hi Lottie! Welcome to the forum! What a shame those poor boys were just abandoned with you. At least it seems they were left in caring hands. I'm sure you'll learn a lot here. If you have questions, just ask!

Hi all,

Well Rolo and Rocky finally came to live with us today. They were coming on Tuesday but someone else asked mum (who's workplace they were staying at) if they could have them, then two days later it transpires that they don't want them but failed to tell her! So the poor boys have finally come home to ours.

They're currently situated in the office until I get some sort of set up to keep them off the floor in my room (the cat is allowed in, but only when supervised).

I'm looking forward to getting some pictures up of them because Rocky is just the cutest little thing with gorgeous colouring!
