1st time Hamster owner...
Hello all!
2 weeks ago I brought home my first hamster, a Syrian that I named Trixie.
I lurked here for awhile reading up before I decided to buy one. Lots and lots of great info here!
Today I"m looking for info on hamster care while we are on vacation in January. We'll be gone about 6 days.
I look forward to learning more everytime I visit this site.

Welcome to the forum!
It's always exciting when you get a new hamster, I bet you're super excited that it's your first!
If you're going away for 6 days in January then it's a good idea to ask someone to pet sit! Clean your cage out the day before you are going away, make sure they know how much to feed your hamster, how they have to change the water every day!
Make sure they know what to do and how to look after them!! ♥

Re: 1st time Hamster owner...
Welcome to the forum, Trixie is beautiful.
You will need someone to look after her while you are away - either someone who can go to yours once a day to check on her, change her water etc or someone she can go and stay with while you're away. If you don't have friends or family that can do this then you'll have to get a pet sitter or take her to a small animal boarder. Lots of those about and not usually very expensive.

Yes, I am quite concerned what to do with her while on vacation. We do have someone who will come and feed/water her - but I don't think he'll interact with her which worries me. Will she be ok for 6 days with no real human interaction??
