Welcome to the forum. You obviously have a daughter with taste
Ideally you would be best getting a hamster for her from a breeder as it will be nice and tame. If you let us know which part of the UK you are in I could point you in the right direction.
looking forward to meeting your chinchillas too

Hi Alison,
Welcome to the board to you and your Chins!!! There are lots of people on this board who know lots and lots about hamsters!! I'm not one of them but I am learning every day!I don't know much about Chinchillas, we had three when I was growing up but they were more my Mum's babies. They were more unusual pets back then. I have two young children now too and they love our pet hamsters.

Babyboos who is a moderator on this forum is the only breeder I know in Scotland but she has some lovely hamsters. I think her website is down at the moment but you could try sending her a PM on the forum to enquire. We are likely your next closest in Yorkshire but we hope to have a litter on the 23rd Feb. Look on the breeders list at Custard Hamstery. Hope that helps.

Welcome to the forum Allison! I'm sure you'll learn a lot here. Forums are so educational, aren't they? At least we know where to go with chinchilla questions now...
