I've been Lurking for a while so thought it was time to introduce my self and the hammies.
at present they are both living (seperately i will add...) in cambridges, whilst awaiting home improvements. we are adapting a freddie for Jimbo(he is the more active of the 2) and i've set my heart on a hamster heaven for mavis... so here they are(hope this works

They are very cute.
Mavis is a Long haired Golden and Jimbo is, from the front, a red eyed cream I think. Does he have a band of white?

Jimbo does have a white band.
Even though it doesn't show on that pic, Mavis has a hole in her left ear, it is a small rectangle right in the center, looks like it has been made by a hole punch

I am sure i have heard somewhere that this is done by mass breeders. can anyone shed any light on this or have i misunderstood.

Not sure about the hole punch, haven't heard that one before. I would think chances are that mass breeders wouldn't take the time to mark the hamsters, costs time and money. Anyways, enjoy!
