yeah he sleeps a lot. He was biting on the cage before I moved but I haven't noticed him doing it anymore which is good. I've got him a bunch of toys and different treats. Even got him a ball to run around in. I haven't put him in that yet but I'm sure my cats are gonna love that lol. He likes his little treats though but I cant get him to chew on any of the wood stuff I got him. I got him apple wood sticks, little blocks, a wicker type ball with a treat in the middle. He's just not interested in them. I actually had a dream last night that I went and looked in his cage and his teeth were like 3cm long and all weird color. Didn't even look like teeth lol. Guess I'm subconsciously worried about his teeth from lack of chewing the wood goodies.

Have you tried putting some peanut butter on the wooden chews?
Also whimzees are great for keeping their teeth trim. Yes they're dog chews but perfectly fine for hamsters.

Thin Lizzy is right - you can never really go wrong with whimzee chews, haven't yet heard of a hamster that didn't love them. You can usually get them cheap on ebay or viovet. Best deal I've found yet : Whimzees small 70mm toothbrush all natural dog chew / treats various pack sizes | eBay

I will try the peanut butter and see if he likes it better.

Hi Riscat - I've only just caught up with your thread as I've been absent for a while. What an story for you and Ospu. The videos are superb and I'm glad you were home when Ospu was breaking in.

I hope you have settled in after your move. When the weather warms up, there are some things you can do to make sure that Ospu doesn't get too warm, ie ceramic tiles that stay cool that he can lie on. There is also something called an artic igloo that's I've seen on eBay - link provided to Ebay.com. These are just some ideas for forward thinking.

Artic Igloo House

Congratulations once again on saving Ospu.

Opsu is doing good. I haven't got him in a bigger cage yet but he seems pretty content.

Got him a ball to run around in and he is loving it, zooming around all over the house.

Today while he was out zooming I cleaned his cage, cleaned out his little hut too which I don't do as often, and put some treats in the cage for him to find.

After putting him back in his clean cage he had to give himself a cleaning too. Decided to take a short little video of him

Ooh he's gorgeous! He seems nice and tame too, watching you stroke him! Yes he seems very happy and seems to like that shelf for grooming. He looks quite a big syrian, although it's hard to tell from a video. Ours is big - about 7" long. He looks nice and healthy too.
