Aww that's adorable! It's new and exciting then it's boring lol. I would boil the wood before putting it in. I have hundreds of pounds worth and don't want rid or it would be a waste . Easily about 10-15 pieces(OCD?) the tank is algae free due to catfish and ottocinclus who keep it clean.
The sand would all need removed too and the tank just scrubbed really as sand can build up toxins in the water.
This will need to wait as I'm now busy moving but will get sorted in time.
