Hi!
Hi- my name's Emilee and although I don't have a hamster currently, I am owned by a ferret, dog, cat, a betta fish, and 2 gerbils. I have just lost my third gerbil yesterday, so I'm interested in getting a syrian hamster in a couple weeks because I want a more hands-on rodent. Plus I need another pet because right now I keep thinking that I have to go see my gerbil. I'm sure this forum will help me learn more about hamsters so if I do get one I'm prepared!

Re: Hi!
Welcome to you from me .
There's tones of information in the wiki which will help you decide which type of hamster to get and will give you guidance for the little ones care. A syrian would be a good choice as they are the biggest breed to get your hands around for handling.

Re: Hi!
Thanks! Well, I'm still living with my parents (who aren't big animal lovers) but I think it will be easy to convince them. I WAS a strict gerbil lover and never gave hamsters a chance until I started baby-sitting a kid who had two Syrians. (Who are in different cages of course!) And I totally fell in love with them! so you'll probably hear a few stories about their "adventures". Besides- they can have plastic toys! If I give my gerbils plastic toys they're all chewed up within a day.

Re: Hi!
Thanks, my gerbil had a stroke around February and although I got him back and healthy, I knew he only had about 6 months left.
And don't worry about pics of the new hamster, I take loads of pictures!
