I am owned by a young syrian hamster by the name of Gir. He is hyper and loves exploring.

Is there anything else you'd like to know?

Thankies for the welcome! Gir is my thrid hamster.

My first was Max, a golden syrian I had in childhood. He lived to about three and was put down as he was suffering from tumours.

My second hamster was Buttons, a dark grey/brown syrian. We got him by chance, as his owner couldn't keep him anymore. (Don't ask). He was 4 when we got him, and died of old age about 6 months after coming to live with us.

Gir is my current companion http://www.hamsterster.com/?pet=495. I think he has quite an unusual colouring. We rescued him from a local SPCA, as he was an unwanted Christmas present. This experience has made me decide to not support the pet industry. From now on, I will only foster/adopt companion animals.

I have quite a lot of experience with hamsters, but I'm still up for learning things. My close friends all own small animals themselves (rats and ferrets), so I'm also learning about these critters too.

Default Big dogs

Hi there Emma,

thank you so much for giving second hand hamsters a chance of happiness - I love my rescues very much. I would always encourage anyone looking for a hamster to check with a rescue centre first, and to consider adopting an older hamster. I only have three at the moment which is quite good going for me

They can live for over 1000 days so usually still have plenty of love to give.

Did you go to The Hamster Society show last year in Glasgow

Where does your signature come from I have seen it before on a T-Shirt but can't remember if it was a band or something, sorry

Nope I did not go to the show in Glasgow, I had no idea we had hamster shows here!

And I saw the quote on a t-shirt in a sports shop, and I haven't a clue what brand name it was.

Babyboos,

What a cute picture lol, it looks as if the ham was lost for words and action when he came across this wonderful seed stick dangling from the top of the cage in all its glory!

Great picture! That's probably the best picture I've seen of a hamster. He's like "Woah.....were did that come from?" He looks really amazed.
